For people that have a long commute to work, travel a lot for their job, are in for a long trip, or find themselves too busy to read a traditional book, audiobooks are a great alternative.
Basically, Audible is an Amazon company that, after a 30-day free trail (which currently allows you to get two free audiobooks), you pay $14.95 for a free credit that allows to listen to 1 book a month. This doesn’t sound like a lot until you realize that most audiobooks are 20+ hours long. After that credit you get a % off all other audiobooks. You can also switch books if you don’t like the one you listened to.
To listen to the books you can use a free Audible app that you can download for Apple or Android devices as well as a variety of other devices. Some Kindles will also play audiobooks. You can switch between devices without losing your place as well as listen to them offline.
If you are an Amazon Prime member you have access to various Audible channels (podcasts etc) you can access for free as well as a rotating audiobook selection that are all free as long as you have Prime.
All in all Audible, and audiobooks in general, are a great alternative to traditional books and once you dive into them you will quickly find some great narrators that will leave you wondering why it took you so long to get into audiobooks.
